Panels and Kilowatts

Formula:

Figure total square footage of the roof: 3031.88 ft²

Using 3 x 5 foot panels you would need to figure the total area of one panel: 15 ft²

Each panel generates 200watts/panel.

Therefore, Roof square footage/ square footage of one panel= 202.125 panels= 201 panels

X panels multiplied by 200watts/panel = how many watts generated?: 40,200 watts

Take the total watts and divide by 1000 to determine Kw: 40.2 Kw

Multiply that number by 1200 which is a constant used in this formula to give us the Kilowatts that will be generated by solar panels on your roof: 48,240 Kw
